How did a Monk do this on Shek (LFR)?

Post by Tomisu » Wed Jan 16, 2013 5:51 pm

I was looking through rankings and came across a really high number: 300k DPS on Shek in LFR.
http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/neeh ... 7#Pandanax

Three Touch of Deaths for an average of 3,703,2794 damage... How does that work? I don't have any experience playing a monk but the tool tip says the max damage for ToD is the player's own HP. What is going on here?

Looks like he got 5 stacks of eyes of the empress, which means he got transformed.

[00:20:01.850] Pandanax Touch of Death Set'thik Windblade 473684 (O: 118783)
[00:20:32.109] Pandanax afflicted by Eyes of the Empress from Grand Empress Shek'zeer
[00:20:49.048] Pandanax afflicted by Eyes of the Empress (2) from Grand Empress Shek'zeer
[00:21:04.796] Pandanax afflicted by Eyes of the Empress (3) from Grand Empress Shek'zeer
[00:21:15.595] Pandanax afflicted by Eyes of the Empress (4) from Grand Empress Shek'zeer
[00:21:38.536] Pandanax afflicted by Eyes of the Empress (5) from Grand Empress Shek'zeer
[00:21:38.586] Pandanax afflicted by Servant of the Empress from Pandanax
[00:21:38.950] Grand Empress Shek'zeer's Eyes of the Empress fades from Pandanax
[00:21:39.281] Pandanax casts Touch of Death on Grand Empress Shek'zeer
[00:21:39.326] Pandanax Touch of Death Grand Empress Shek'zeer 67856975 (O: 42101881)
[00:21:39.737] Pandanax's Servant of the Empress fades from Pandanax

so something odd happened. as I don't think you can cast that whilst mc'ed, and even if you could, it doesn't give 69 million dmg, it'd maybe give 4.

Thanks for that, as DPS I hadn't really noticed that ability.

So... Monk was a tank, suppose 600k health. Gets transformed so health increases 300% (or 4x), so 2.4M. Damage done is increased by 200%, so touch of death could do max health x dmg multiplier = 2.4M x 3 = 7.2M damage. Which is insane but like you said, doesn't match the numbers in the log.

And yeah, how could he hit Shek while MC'd? Weird. But kinda cool!

Hey, simple advice : looking at the URL, the log isn't a live report.

It it's not uploaded realtime, it means that it *could* be edited with before upload.

I don't mean it was, i dunno, but it could.

That's why i always take "non live logs" with a big grain of salt.

Even live logs could be tampered with, either via using /combatlog in game, to start or stop the combat log at various times, or perhaps having a script that could run and intercept the log and write it out somewhere else. At the end of the day, its just a text file, so you could have the live logger look at FixedLog.txt instead of WowCombatLog.txt and have another program looking at WowCombatLog.txt parsing stuff into FixedLog.txt line by line, editing it however it saw fit (for example adding 10% dmg to all abilities cast by one guy). Of course that's excessively complicated, I'm just saying, its possible.
