Opportunities for the Vikings to disrupt Goff's rhyt

Post by panxing18 » Wed May 22, 2019 8:21 am

With play-action pass after play-action pass Jared Goff Jersey , Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams just kept picking Minnesota's proud and proven defense apart.hm with a well-timed sack or a hurried incompletion were scant, as the high-octane Rams never let up in that 38-31 victory last week over the suddenly sputtering Vikings."They don't give you too many drop-back passes where you can rush the quarterback," coach Mike Zimmer said after that humbling performance when Goff went 26 for 33 for 465 yards and five touchdowns. The pressure is on the Vikings (1-2-1) to rebound from this rough first quarter of the season and climb back toward the top of the NFC where they've been expected to be. Speaking of pressure, well, the Vikings haven't been producing enough of it."Just get him off his spot, you know? Be effective," defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson said. "Put a lot of pressure in his face and around his legs."Goff was only sacked once and hit twice in 35 passing plays. With Todd Gurley's dangerous presence in the backfield, the Vikings simply weren't able to prioritize rushing Goff over stopping the ground game. With Rams coach Sean McVay cleverly calling a variety of rollout and misdirection plays, the Vikings simply weren't able to get to Goff in time. That's one reason why their linebackers, safeties and cornerbacks were out of sorts in coverage all night."We've just got to get in the classroom, fix our mistakes http://www.theramslockerroom.com/authen ... ace-jersey , see what we did wrong and just try to get better," said defensive end Danielle Hunter, who has four of the team's 11 sacks. The Vikings actually rank seventh in the NFL in sacks per pass attempt at 8.4 percent. As in their loss to Buffalo the week before, though, they didn't deliver that drive-ending or touchdown-saving takedown of the quarter against the Rams when they needed it most.Richardson pointed to the myriad ways the Rams were able to stay a step ahead with their scheme and, essentially, use the strengths of the Vikings against them."It might look like we're not pass rushing, but that's what we're doing. We're doing our job," Richardson said. "I think it can get better."The Vikings not only led the league last season in fewest points and yards allowed, but they denied opponents on third downs more often than any other team. So far this year, their foes have displayed a desire to call more aggressive plays on second down so as to avoid those difficult scenarios."It's harder to get sacks. Guys are scheming so you won't be able to get sacks. Quarterbacks are aware of that too Womens Ethan Westbrooks Jersey ," Richardson said, not even mentioning the increased emphasis on roughing-the-passer penalties. "In the schemes, it's two-seconds-it's-gone."Still indefinitely missing defensive end Everson Griffen , while he gets treatment for mental health issues, the Vikings won't have much easier of a time this week at Philadelphia. The Eagles, of course, won the last meeting 38-7 in the NFC championship game last season with the same type of multi-faceted attack the Rams employed to keep the Vikings from digging in and unleashing their pass rush."The past makes you who you are," Richardson said, adding: "We have things we need to work on. Now we've got to get to it. We've got to change those. Otherwise we're going to get beat again." In what felt like a dominating performance from start-to-end, the Los Angeles Rams have clinched their ticket to the NFC Championship game with a win over the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday. The Rams controlled the game on both sides of the ball, ultimately winning 30-22 though the game felt like it had a much wider scoring gap. Prevent defense was the result of the game becoming a one score game.Let’s take a look at the stock report:Stock DownCB Marcus PetersMarcus Peters had a game to forget on Saturday night. It started with a dumb penalty that resulted in a free 15-yards for the Cowboys (which lead to a touchdown on the next play). It progressed to a bunch of off-coverage Deacon Jones Jersey , easy catches underneath, and a play where he vacated his deep zone and allowed WR Michael Gallup a massive gain down to the 1-yard line. Peters and Amari Cooper’s antics carried over to the postgame with the two nearly fighting:FS Lamarcus JoynerLamarcus Joyner is the second member of the secondary on the stock down portion as his game wasn’t great, though it wasn’t terrible either. He was the victim of the first touchdown from WR Amari Cooper as he was undressed on a fantastic route by Cooper in man coverage. Joyner did have a fantastic tackle on a crucial fourth-and-one short of the sticks, getting the ball back to the offense.Stock UpOffensive lineThe Rams had 273 rushing yards in the contest with both RB’s C.J. Anderson and Todd Gurley exceeding the 100-yard mark. Not only that, but QB Jared Goff was sacked a grand total of zero times. Goff routinely had clean pockets and plenty of time to throw the ball, when needed. Absolutely outstanding job from the offensive line, these five deserve the game ball.RB’s C.J. Anderson and Todd GurleyAnderson rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns (5.3 yards-per-carry) and Gurley rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown (7.2 yards-per-carry). These guys played possessed all night, breaking tackles and hitting holes with plenty of burst. The duo is a great mix of power (Anderson) and speed (Gurley). So long as the running game is clicking, the Rams will dominate. The offense had zero three-and-outs in the game.DT Ndamukong SuhWhat perfect timing for Ndamukong Suh to have his best game as a Ram. Suh only had four tackles and a tackle-for-loss, but man oh man was he an issue for the Cowboys offensive line when it came to the running game. Suh’s emergence is coming at the perfect time as the Rams approach the ultimate goal — a Superbowl.ILB Cory LittletonCory Littlejohn (kidding) combined for seven tackles, a tackle-for-loss http://www.theramslockerroom.com/authen ... ion-jersey , and a pass deflection. Littleton looked fierce today, maintaining his responsibilities in the run game and using his terrific closing speed to finish tackles. The entire front-seven did a fantastic job stepping up, becoming more physical, and forcing the Cowboys offense off schedule consistently. RB Ezekiel Elliott had 20 carries for 47 yards (2.4 yards-per-carry).Coaching staffThat was quite a masterful gameplan, wasn’t it? Head Coach Sean McVay was dominant offensively. One of his major qualms in his short career was his affinity to pass the ball and forget about the running game, but not today. Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips had the defense flying to the ball as a collective unit.Enjoy it Rams fans, onto next week! We’ll find out tomorrow who the Rams are slated to play between the New Orleans Saints or Philadelphia Eagles.
