Missing guild control

Post by BWarner » Mon Apr 13, 2009 4:05 pm

This looks great! While we primarily use WWS, our guild is definitely always up for trying new things.

While getting a few people in the guild on-board with trying this thing out, we are a bit confused as to the guild deal. Following the instructions, a guild member creates an account, and applies for access to upload logs under the guild tag. On the officer account, there is no apparent way to even find applicants, let alone approve or decline them.

Are we just seriously missing something here?

You missed something! ;-)

It's quite easy to miss though; navigation is something we still have to rethink and redo. When logged in, click your guild name in the menu bar on the top right. Following that, hover over your guild name in the menu bar on the top left. Browse to 'Manage guild'. This should give you a list of members and applicants!

Let me know if you have any trouble still.

Can you say what exactly the different ranks can do? Members / Vets / Officers?

Ah, I totally forgot to document that.

Members: can upload normal reports.
Veterans: can upload live reports.
Officers: can do officer stuff, like accepting people, deleting reports, etc.

Live report is a separate category as it was pretty resource intensive on our side, so quotas may be placed on them and you don't want random people using up your allocation. But for now, it's not a problem at all and probably won't be for a long, long time; we had a few ideas how to make it faster if there's any need for that.

It can be made customizable in the future - it already is in the code, but not exposed yet to the guild management page.

I had a hard time finding it as well, until reading this thread. One suggestion would be to make the mouse-over the "guild name" tab at the top bring up the dropdown that is found under the click-through link. I think that would make it easier, maybe have an option for "guild reports" and "guild administration" etc

just my 2¢ :)

Within a guild, five ranks exist:
  1. Initiate
  2. Member
  3. Veteran
  4. Officer
  5. Leader
These ranks have the following permissions, cumulatively:
  1. Initiate
    • View private reports (when they are implemented)
  2. Member
    • Upload reports
    • Manage own reports
  3. Veteran
    • Upload live reports
  4. Officer
    • Accept/decline applications
    • Promote up to Veteran rank
    • Demote down from Veteran rank
    • Kick members of Veteran rank or lower
  5. Leader
    • Promote up to Officer rank
    • Demote down from Officer rank
    • Kick members of Officer rank or lower
