Log Queries 101 - Questions

Postby Anaea » Tue May 12, 2009 5:23 pm

Apologies if I've missed the thread where these were explained. I read the WIP discussion and didn't come across the specific information.

I'm trying to analyze damage during Phase2 of Mimiron. For this, I was attempting to see/graph all damage from "Rapid Burst." It didn't seem to recognize the spell name, so I thought, "well heck, here's this great SpellID feature." Then I was stymied. :) Is there a way to find out what the SpellID of a spell is? I clicked on the spell in the damage tab, but didn't see anything noting the spellID (the page I'm referring to: http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/FzWN ... 82&e=11574).

Also, is there a way to query only Player deaths? I ran a "deaths" query and got a lot of totem, pet, etc. deaths. Attempting to type "player" in the Actor section didn't return any results. (I wanted to map Player deaths with the rapid burst damage, which is why I didn't use the deaths tab.)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can walk me through these options. We're very excited by the promise of this site (and the enthusiasm of the site operator) and I hope I can provide more useful feedback soon. :)

The spell id is only in the URL at the moment:

http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/FzWN ... o8N/spell/64531/?s=11182&e=11574

As for deaths - it's impossible to construct a useful player death query at the moment; you can't filter out all the junk with the current filter set; instead, use the deaths tab on a spell (http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/FzWN ... tab-deaths) or the deaths overview page (http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/FzWN ... 82&e=11574).

We're busy adding a trigger query (ex: trigger on player died, show last 10 seconds), which defines the time ranges and actor shown on the main query - in this case, I'd like to see damage taken, healing done to the player who died.

Another use on Mimiron would be: trigger on Plasma Blast, show +10s, damage and healing done on tank.

(oh, it can take another few days to get it all sorted tho; we're also refactoring other things to accept time ranges for the defeated bosses / wipes / all bosses time ranges, or even triggers like healing done just before tank death. Yes, it will be hell to make a non extremely confusing interface for that :P)

We currently have had some issues with one of our warrior tanks taking spikes of damage. We usually end up having a pally taunting after the warrior dies, and we scramble for a bit during that transition.

I was hoping I could write some log queries that would show all the hits the warrior is taking by Runemaster. Then write the same query with all the hits the paladin is taking.

I would like to compare the damage spikes of each to see what we are dealing with.

Here is the log of Iron Council.
http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-z ... 888&e=7694

However when I use the log browser it appears I only get a handful of hits from my query.

Any help would be appreciated.

Okay - so Coward tends to die and you want to know why; Lets go to the report you linked and find out.

First, switch to damage taken mode; from there, you can get a overview of the whole fight and get a hint where to look for the answer - that seems to be in the first phase.

Using the graph, I've selected the time range between 22:45:30 - 22:26:30; right click, set page to selection.

Seems like he took a few huge blows in a row; graph peaks at over 10k dtps, 93% melee from the tooltip. Now is the time to find out exactly why - switch to the log browser. Use the query: Show events where event type is one of Hit, Miss, Death and target is Coward.

[22:45:32.890] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward 12500 (A: 6854, B: 1350)
[22:45:34.927] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward Parry
[22:45:37.303] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward Parry
[22:45:39.732] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward Parry
[22:45:42.052] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward Miss
[22:45:47.848] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward 30179 (A: 2147, B: 1350)
[22:45:50.257] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward Miss
[22:45:52.738] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward Parry
[22:45:55.067] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward 9428 (A: 8578, B: 2314)
[22:45:57.386] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward 17224 (B: 2314)
[22:45:59.906] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward 17119 (B: 2314)
[22:46:05.314] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward 33167
[22:46:07.667] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward Dodge
[22:46:08.184] Runemaster Molgeim Rune of Death Coward Absorb
[22:46:08.667] Runemaster Molgeim Rune of Death Coward 2175 (A: 53)
[22:46:09.138] Runemaster Molgeim Rune of Death Coward 2229
[22:46:09.710] Runemaster Molgeim Rune of Death Coward 1672 (A: 836)
[22:46:10.019] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward Parry
[22:46:10.219] Runemaster Molgeim Rune of Death Coward 1950
[22:46:10.713] Runemaster Molgeim Rune of Death Coward 2507
[22:46:11.164] Runemaster Molgeim Rune of Death Coward 2508
[22:46:12.350] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward 31261
[22:46:14.780] Runemaster Molgeim hits Coward 24305 (O: 9193)
[22:46:15.333] Coward dies

There it is. 30k hits are not normal; this time, you hit the jackpot. Click on Runemaster Molegeim to go to his details page, click buffs gained (http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-z ... #tab-auras for the lazy) and you'll see why:

Shield of Runes: +50% damage when broken
Rune of Power: +50% damage

Combine the two and you have the explanation for the 15 -> 30k hits.

Thank you. I think I was viewing the results incorrectly. Instead of looking at the All Results tab, I clicked over to the Queary 1 tab that provided a fraction of the information.

Thanks for the walk through, because I did not think of using the set page to help limit the amount of log data I wanted to see. That is very useful.

Ditto. I wasn't even aware that functionality existed. :)
